Personal Rating:
I didn’t know how to express the sensation that ran through my veins as I read this book. It was all over my social media, and everyone I know always says that this book is deserving of everything.
This book primarily covers the tale of the two main protagonists Quinn and Graham, whose marriage has been challenged by several issues that have arisen in their lives, some of which are mistakes and regrets that they have made. People might hate nor like this book, but for me, it’s a straight did five out of five stars read.
All Your Perfects is one of the best books I’ve read this year; it’s still stuck in my head, and every word of it keeps flowing through my thoughts as my heart breaks into a million pieces. I have to admit that I am not a fan of the romance genre, except for Nicholas Sparks’ works, who is my all-time favorite author. Still, Colleen and Nicholas are now tied for first place as one of the best adult contemporary romance authors because they both can tell a great story that can break your heart and teach you something and change your perspective on life.
Infertility, miscarriage, despair, grieving, cheating, abuse, and a self-harm scenario are among the triggers and content warnings that you might encounter in this book. I want you to be aware of those before reading this novel.
All Your Perfects is an excellent book about infertility, a subject I’d never read about before. And this book is narrated in alternating chapters from the past and the present, in which we see a couple fall in love but see their marriage fall apart since they are unable to have children.
We get to know the shame, grief, depression, and everything else that is dark in between.
“If you only shine light in your flaws, all you perfects will dim”
Quinn was an easy and uncomplicated love for me. Everything she was going through and the way Colleen described it felt like an incredibly true portrayal of despair. I was continuously worried about her, and my heart still ached for this fictional figure.
But on the other side of the track, Graham was a lot more difficult for me to believe in. And, despite the fact that some of his deeds were so beautiful and unselfish, I could never truly love him because some of his other actions were so vile and selfish. And, while I understand that we are all human and that we all make mistakes and do horrible things from time to time, his mistakes have made it impossible for me to ever root for him. In this novel, Graham performs numerous extremely abusive things that are never mentioned as such.
“Why keep fighting for someone who is no longer fighting for you?”
In classic Colleen Hoover fashion, this story masterfully addresses the emotions that attract two people together and the emotions that keep them together, even in the most dreadful of situations.
I admire how she depicts the true and hard aspect of love while demonstrating how hopeful it can be. She makes me appreciate love in all of its forms, good and bad.
I’m not sure how to persuade you to read this book, but I finished it in two days and found it difficult to put down. Overall, the plot was engaging, and each chapter ended on a cliffhanger that could either be resolved or lead to the following chapter.
I hope you have the same reading experienced as me.
