A Dark And Gritty Adventure: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.

I’m excited to read this book because of its attention from readers; it’s even trending on TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. I haven’t read any unfavorable reviews about this book, which is why I spent time searching the internet for a decent offer on a copy.

Six of Crows

Our six main heroes embark on a trip that will change their lives forever, and this book recounts their journey. They have the ability and power to pull off the risky heist they’re going to pull out. Although the blurb doesn’t say much about the book’s primary plot, some people recommend reading the Grisha Trilogy (Shadow and Bone Trilogy) first to acquire a better idea of world-building. I couldn’t agree because it may really benefit you and make you adore this book, but I think you should just watch the Netflix series adaptation of Shadow and Bone before reading and appreciating this novel.

I understand why the opening few pages of the novel were weakly paced; they introduced their setting and some of the critical characters’ identities. I annotate some of my favorite passages and discussions in this book since the prose is so excellent. The characters were well-developed and engaging, and I particularly enjoyed their backstories.

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday, you’ll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won’t matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns you heart.”

I’m not sure how to explain my feelings while reading this book; I didn’t anticipate all of the events that occurred during the novel. However, when it comes to plotting and storytelling, Bardugo is a master. I’ve also heard rumors that she didn’t do a fantastic job with the Shadow and Bone trilogy, which is why people are really not crazy about it. Though I haven’t read the sequel, I’m hopeful it was better than this book and that, as it is the last book, it will serve as the most delicate climax to the story.

“The easiest way to steal a man’s wallet is to tell him you’re going to steal his watch. You take his attention and direct it where you want it to go.”

Also, it is tough to choose who my favorite character is since all of them are perfect for me. They actually defined the real meaning of the word “squad goals.” Each one is completely unique. Each one is a distinct ethnicity, comes from a different background, and has a variety of layers. Yet, each one has a fantastic set of qualities and characteristics that will continue to amaze you.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in getting into fantasy literature; I don’t know how else to persuade you to read it. Unfortunately, because it’s only a duology, there’s a sequel, which I’m both excited and afraid to read because, one, I don’t want the story to finish. Second, I believe something horrible will happen in the second book, and I’m not prepared for it.
